BUDGET COUNTRY CONDITIONS – EGYPT
Please read these Country Specific Conditions (“Country Conditions”) alongside the General Conditions of Rental (“General Conditions”) before signing the Rental Agreement Form.
PART 1 – IMPORTANT TERMS RELATING TO YOUR RENTAL AGREEMENT
Rental Provider
- In Egypt, the rental vehicle is provided by:
- Intercar Touristic Company
- 7 El-Nozha St., Buildings of Saudi Egyptian Developers Company, Nasr City, Cairo
Rental Requirements
- Booking Information: Bring your reservation number or confirmation email.
- Driving Licences:
- Must bring a valid licence.
- If staying in Egypt for more than 3 months, an Egyptian licence is required.
- Non-Roman alphabet licences must be accompanied by an international licence.
- Minimum holding period: 1 year.
- Payment Cards: Bring the card used for booking.
- Pre-authorisation: Between USD 500.00 and USD 2,000.00 depending on vehicle group.
- Identification:
- Payment card used for booking.
- Photo ID (passport, national ID, etc.).
- Proof of address may be required for Egyptian residents.
Driver Age Restrictions
- Minimum Age: 25 years
- Young Driver Surcharge:
- Age 21–24: USD 10.00/day
- Maximum Age: Usually none, but may be 75 or 80 depending on affiliate.
Driving Convictions
Drivers with serious unspent convictions (e.g., DUI, reckless driving) are not allowed to rent.
Security/Credit Checks
Only identity checks are performed in Egypt.

- Accepted:
- American Express (excluding Traveller’s Cheque cards)
- Visa credit cards
- Mastercard credit cards
- Global Electronic Billing (GEB/WEB) on Budget accounts only
- Not accepted:
- Cash
During the Rental
- International Travel: Not allowed.
- One-Way Rentals:
- Cairo – Sharm El Sheikh: USD 120.00
- Cairo – Hurghada/Gouna: USD 120.00
- Cairo – Alexandria: USD 80.00
- Alexandria – Hurghada/Gouna/Sharm El Sheikh: USD 200.00
- Hurghada/Gouna – Sharm El Sheikh: USD 220.00
- Within Cairo/Alexandria/Hurghada/Sharm El Sheikh: Free
- Unplanned one-way returns: USD 10.00–300.00
- Mileage:
- No unlimited mileage.
- Excess mileage: USD 0.20–2.00/mile
- Late Returns: USD 10.00/day
- Breakdown (Customer Fault): USD 200.00 call-out fee
Fuel & Electricity Charges
- Traditional Fuel:
- Return with same fuel level.
- Refuelling service charge: USD 20.00
- Electric Vehicles:
- 70%+ battery: No charge
- 11–69% battery: USD 30.00
- 10% or less: USD 50.00
Other Important Information
- Damage/Loss Fee: USD 20.00 processing fee
- Fines:
- Admin fee: USD 10.00 per fine
- Vehicle Cleanliness:
- Smoking or excessive dirt: Up to USD 50.00
- Accident Report Missing: USD 90.00 fee
